From March 4 to 20, 2026, Associate Professors L.M. Ponomarova and S.B. Bolshanina took part in organizing selection and training camps for participants of the IV stage of the Olympiad.

As part of the program, L.M. Ponomarova delivered a series of interactive lectures and practical classes for students in grades 9–11. The sessions covered key topics in chemical thermodynamics and kinetics, redox reactions, and electrochemical processes.

The practical component of the training was held at two locations:

• March 11, 2026 – at the Department of Human Biology, Chemistry, and Chemistry Teaching Methods of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko;
• March 20, 2026 – at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry of Sumy State University.

Students from the Sumy region who will represent the region at the final stage of the Olympiad participated in the training. As the final stage will be held in person and includes a mandatory practical round, particular attention was given to laboratory skills.

Participants carried out qualitative analysis of inorganic and organic substances, studied reaction kinetics, and performed quantitative analysis using titrimetry. They also practiced precise weighing, preparation of solutions with specified concentration, proper use of volumetric glassware and laboratory equipment, and the required chemical calculations.

We wish the participants success in representing the Sumy region at the IV stage of the All-Ukrainian School Chemistry Olympiad.
