The lecture, titled “Multifunctional Phosphorus: Chemical and Physicochemical Properties of Calcium Phosphates as Biomaterials and Fertilizers,” was delivered by Pavlo Ivanchenko, a graduate of the NaUKMA Department of Chemistry, PhD, and Research Associate at the Environmental Biogeochemistry Laboratory, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Delaware (USA).

The presentation focused on the factors that determine the behavior and applications of calcium phosphates. In particular, it addressed:

  • the importance of the hydroxyapatite surface;
  • methods for accurate surface structure determination;
  • the implications of variations in surface structure;
  • the role of calcium phosphates in agriculture.

Participants had the opportunity to explore current approaches to studying phosphate-based materials and their applications in biomedicine and agriculture.

We thank the organizers for an engaging and informative event.
